Dover Charges to Top Five at Jackson Motorplex and Scores Victory at Off Road Raceway
Inside Line Promotions – NORFOLK, Neb. (Aug. 21, 2018) – Jack Dover produced another feature victory along with a hard charging effort to net a top-five result during a highly successful weekend.
The action began on Friday at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., where Dover drove for Chris Bowers during an event that was co-sanctioned by the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
“We could have been a top-three car, but we drew a bad number at the beginning of the night,” he said. “We started at the back of the heat and the track was too locked down. When that happens everyone is fast.”
Dover advanced from ninth to sixth place during the heat, which ranked him 15th in overall points. He started the 25-lap feature on the inside of the eighth row.
“The track started to slick off with about five laps to go in the feature,” he said. “The racing groove wasn’t real wide. It was so tight I’d wait for someone to miss the bottom and I’d sneak under them. Our goal was to finish the main and get as far forward as we could. We weren’t expecting to get a top five so that was a bonus.”
Dover rallied from 15th to a fifth-place result, which earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
His weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Off Road Raceway with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series. Dover powered from sixth to second place in a heat race to qualify for the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 4 to start the A Main fourth.
“We got to third right away,” he said. “About four laps in we got to second. By Lap 8 we were leading it. We were good in traffic and the car was really good. I was really comfortable. We lapped up to seventh place. I honestly think if we started 15th we could have won. The car was that good.”
Dover’s win was his eighth trip to Victory Lane this season.
“It’s all a head game and confidence,” he said. “Getting the win gets my confidence up. We’re capable of winning all of these. We just have to have luck on our side.”
Sunday’s Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com show at Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Mo., rained out.
Dover is scheduled to compete this Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., with the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints and Midwest Sprint Touring Series.
